Beat Your Food Addiction

A food addiction is what most overweight people suffer from.  It's not so much an obsession as it is an uncontrollable urge to eat all of the time.  Sure, people do suffer from emotional triggers to overeat, but some people just purely love food.

The good news is that you can beat your food addiction.  But, you really have to want it.

First, you need to have a plan.  Planning out your meals and committing to your plan will help you to eat only when you're hungry.  When you do this, you will get used to recognizing your hunger pangs, and only eating when you're hungry.

Second, keep trigger foods out of the house.  Whether this is chocolate cake, potato chips, or candy, don't buy or keep it in your house until you can trust yourself to only have a serving of it.  It's too easy to backslide and find yourself with an empty bag of bbq potato chips!

Third, find a healthy habit for your mouth to indulge in.  (Minds out of the gutter please!)  I'm talking about water.  Make it a habit to continually drink water throughout the day, and you'll find that you don't unneccessarily reach for food when you aren't hungry.

Remember that a food addiction can be a serious condition.  Obesity leads to a boatload of health problems.  Overcoming your addiction to food will help you to be in control of your life and health again.
