Easy Breakfast Ideas For Weight Loss

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.  You've no doubt heard that before.  In an effort to lose a little weight, most people will cut this important meal to save a few calories.  This is a recipe for disaster.

Cutting breakfast out of your day will only make you more hungry later.  Studies have shown that slashing breakfast calories can actually cause you to eat more calories during the day than you would have.

If you'd like to start your day off right, read on for some quick, healthy breakfast ideas.

Eggs are a great way to begin the day if you have time to cook them.  If you want to bulk up scrambled eggs without adding too many calories, spoon in some chunky salsa while they are cooking.  Some other popular egg mix-ins include:  lean ham and low fat cheese, cottage cheese, mushrooms, or spinach.  Be creative with your eggs, and you won't tire of making them for a quick breakfast.

Another option for a breakfast with staying power is oatmeal.  While instant oatmeal is an okay option, plain oats are even better.  You can sweeten up your plain oats with a banana and natural peanut butter, or cranberries, a little brown sugar, and cinnamon.  Oatmeal is an extremely versatile food when it comes to different breakfast ideas.

Bagels, if done right, can also be a great breakfast staple.  Most bagels you'll find at bakeries are extremely huge, and too many carbs for a sustaining breakfast.  If you only have a large bagel handy, try scooping out the middle to save a few calories.  My favorite bagel sandwich involves:  toast your bagel, spread a thin layer of low fat cream cheese on it, and add a couple slices of pre-cooked bacon.  It becomes your own breakfast sandwich with staying power.

There are many other breakfast options that will start your day off right.  The important thing is to pick something that will keep you feeling full until lunch time.
